macOS 11.1 Update not available as an offline DMG installer

Apple has just made macOS 11.1 update publicly available via the software update mechanism.

Currently there's no download link for a standalone DMG installer yet in the Downloads section of the Apple Support page. This is the same case for security updates 2020-001 (Catalina) and 2020-007 (Mojave) as the links for the DMG installers are missing.

I understand that Apple are moving to using OTA (Over the Air) installers and will not be giving downloads in the old way. This makes it difficult for those with slow internet connections or who like to keep a USB installer or a Clone handy. I think beta testers may have still have a means of getting point releases...

See info on using Terminal command "softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer"

Apple usually posts these standalone updates a few days after the initial release on the

System Preferences> Software Update mechanism.

The last batch of updates took a week to be posted in, Apple - Support - Downloads

Be patient, as has been the norm with Apple updates of late their may be some problem

with them that requires a subsequent release of a Supplemental update.

Apple already does OTA updates for iPadOS, iOS, watchOS and tvOS. The move from standalone to OTA installers on macOS clearly shows the Cupertino giant's intention to stop providing new standalone packages from the Downloads page in the future.

Microsoft paved the way many years ago when they moved a major portion of their installers from the Download Center to the Software Update Catalog.
