iCloud Drive is disabled after updating to macOS 11.1

After installing the latest Big Sur update yesterday (11.1), iCloud Drive was disabled. All things I had synced locally were moved to a new folder in my home folder called "iCloud Drive (Archive)".

I was able to re-enable it and everything is there, but I was a little freaked out when I noticed all my documents appeared to be gone.

Has anyone else run into this? It looks like some folks ran into this when installing the 11.1 RC build, but my machine is not enrolled in the beta program.

You can't do anything, only wait.

Restarting, safe boot, any try to speed up this ends with more wait time. Switch on your Mac, log in and wait until it finishes. You will have to wait about 3/4 days after last iCloud Drive login or activation.

And support cannot do anything. I got a "iCloud Drive specialist" that had less knowledge than me in iCloud Drive, with dumb try solutions that ended in nothing, a phone call for next day that never happened.

This is the "New Apple". It it does not work, wait until it works.

Happened to me on my 2017 15inch macbook pro. What a waste of my work time. I kept getting messages saying it was unable to automatically update to 11.1, so I press update now. turned it back on and none of my icloud syncing worked between my ipad and realized all of my files were removed. and my files that are on my computer in the shortcut panel were removed from my icloud drive. I have no idea whats going to happen with the duplicate files. How could they let this happen with a minuscule software update.
