USB Type-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter

Hello, all of a sudden my USB port isn't working. I thought it was my external hard drive but when I used a different adapter it worked. Any idea what it could be and how to fix it?

Are you saying that your adapter's USB port isn't working? Does it work with other USB devices which are not hard drives? Hard drives require more power and a better source of power than many other USB devices like keyboards, mice, or USB sticks.

Have you tried using another USB-C to USB-A adapter?

Have you tried using another USB-C port on the Mac especially on the other side of the laptop?

Edit: Have you restarted your Mac? Try an SMC Reset and PRAM Reset.
