Apple TV 4K power adapter

I'm tired of paying FIOS $161/month. I've spent hours on Google, Apple, & YouTube researching the different streaming devices. I'm thinking about getting the Apple TV 4K.

I don't have a 4K TV. I have a 1080P TV. But when it fails, I want to replace it with a 4K TV.

The Apple TV 4K doesn't come with a power adapter. What wattage adapter do I need to get? Is it safe to get a generic USB power adapter that has the same wattage as the Apple?

Apple TV has a built-in power supply, and connects to a wall outlet or power strip with a detachable standard C7 “figure-8” power cord (included). [Probably a similar power cord to what your TV and receiver use.] No external power adapter is needed.

I'm referring to the Apple TV 4K streaming box.

It comes with a power cord for the streaming box & a USB to Lightning cable. The box doesn't include a wall-wart to charge the remote. That's the power adapter that I'm referring to.

What wattage wall-wart do I need to buy in order to charge the remote? Is it OK to use a generic wall-wart of equal wattage to charge the remote?

Is the rechargeable battery in the remote user-replaceable?

OK.

I want to hit FIOS where it hurts - in the wallet.

Every time that I think that I've made up my mind as to which streaming box to get, I change my mind!

I can't decide between Apple or Android or Roku. I like the Apple home screen. I like that it has just the apps not "recommendations" like Amazon Fire TV Stick or Google TV.

I wish that the Apple TV 4K had a USB port for adding storage or show videos & pictures. I wish that the remote had a mute button.

I wish that the Apple TV 4K had a USB port for adding storage or show videos & pictures.

The Apple TV box features Home Sharing to access content from a networked computer.

Third party apps alternatively also allow for a client-server model for your local content (Plex, Infuse, MrMC, VLC, etc.).

The unit itself is meant as an online streaming device, not a storage device.

I wish that the remote had a mute button.

On-demand content can be paused, causing silence. I rarely watch live TV anymore.

The mute button on your TV remote or receiver remote or soundbar remote still works as usual.

Using a universal remote with mute button instead is an option.

Good luck with your buying decision.
