2016 MacBook Pro 13": Uneven lighting at the bottom of the screen, leading to a full Screen Failure.

I Own a 13" 2017 MacBook Pro, and never experienced so much problems and drama with a Machine as with this one!! … I already changed a failing Battery along with a failing Keyboard and now I'm facing a failing Screen due to a poor design from Apple

... 4 weeks ago i started to Notice an Uneven lighting at the bottom of the screen that lead to a complete blackout of the entire screen, reading about it it appears that Apple had issues using thin, fragile display flex cables that are prone to malfunctioning with repeated closing and opening of the MacBook Pro's display and that Apple acknowledge this problem and put a replacement/fix program to allow users to fix their screen with no cost, now contacting apple they been telling me that my machine is under the program but i have to pay ~470 usd to fix the screen as it was chipped .. a problem that was there 1.5 years ago during their keyboards and Battery repair ... what doesn't make any sense is that Apple is replacing the screen to fix the staging light problem and they acknowledge that the chipping is not causing the display malfunction and the entire solution was to replace the screen anyway .!! nevertheless they are asking for an extra cost to fix their own problem!! i asked them to just fix the display without fixing the screen as it doesn't cause me any problem still they insist that they have to change the screen as part of the policy and the procedure for repair and because its chipped I'll have to pay !!

that Apple is refusing to fix as it been chipped

I feel for you as these 2016+ Apple laptops are absolutely terrible designs all around. However, Apple does not replace individual components of the Display Assembly since Apple only sells the whole Display Assembly as a single part. Both the Apple Store and Apple Authorized Service Providers have no other options for you. The best they can do is contact Apple on your behalf to see if a repair exception can be made to allow the repair to be performed under the free repair program even though the Bezel glass is broken.

I suggest you contact Apple corporate to tell them about your issues to see if they will do anything for you. Don't get your hopes up since Apple rarely assists users in this manner anymore. Years ago Apple would have listened to you and most likely would have provided a repair exception to be made so you could get the display repaired for free under the free repair program. However, from all my interactions with Apple on behalf of our organization I can tell you that over the last 8+ years Apple doesn't care about their loyal customers. Even a sales representative for a corporate account is unable to assist us in any way (we've asked multiple sales reps too).

Check your local consumer protection laws to see if there are any that may help you out.
