Since morning I am not able to send outgoing emails from any of my accounts - Gmail / iCloud

I am on BigSur on MacBook Air Late 2020 (M1).

Everything was working fine till last night.

Today when I try to send email, this is what happens:

The send attempt takes longer than usual
The compose window with the content of the email I am sending keeps popping up and then vanishes
Mail send somehow goes to an endless loop

I must say I have no trouble receiving email.

Also this issue happens regardless of the email account I am using to send email.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand being unable to send emails from multiple accounts on your Mac. We definitely want to help get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Just to clarify, if you accessed your mail account via Safari on your Mac, are you able to send emails without issues? We're trying to check if there are issues with your mail accounts, or the Mail application on your Mac.

It seems it was an issue at Google SMTP. Google services were down for quite some time and everything came back to normal once Google SMPT issues were sorted.
