Series 6 display is too dim in dark lighting.

I just bought my first Apple Watch today. It’s a series 6, 44 mm space gray GPS. I have discovered that in a dark room, the auto brightness future dims the screen far too low. Certain parts of the screen are so dim that it is unreadable. Searching the Internet, I have discovered that once again Apple decided to take decisions out of the end-users hands by not including the option to turn off auto brightness. That decision should be left up to the user, and not up to Apple in order to maximize battery life. Some of apples decisions, like this one, or utterly ridiculous. I KNEW I should have gone for a Samsung Galaxy phone and Galaxy Watch3 combo when my contract was up with Rogers.
