Lightroom on M1 MacBook Air

Has anyone tried using the recently optimized Lightroom on their M1 MacBook Air? It seems to be using crazy amounts of ram. I just tried it out and it was using 16 GB of ram out when I just had it open. Wasn't even doing any editing. I'm wondering if this is normal or if there might be an issue. I just received the new MacBook yesterday so I am not sure if I should be concerned.

While I cannot speak for the current Lightroom, my past experience

has been that all Adobe CC apps are memory pigs, one reason why

I jumped off the Adobe Cash Cow (CC). The last time I used Lightroom

on my 32 GB iMac, opening it would immediately use up 5 GB. That

was 4 years ago and if Adobe is true to form, it is likely only worse

now.
