macOS Big Sur installation error at end of installation just prior to restarting using iMac 2019

Is anyone else having this issue and any resolutions? I have tried restarting my computer. Deleting and re-downloading the application and always I receive this error at the end or installation just prior to restarting the iMac. I have an iMac 2019 3.6Ghx i9 with 40GB RAM and 557GB or storage space running Catalina. Thank you

jfro33,

Thanks for updating us on the those steps and results. Let's start to macOS Recovery and use Disk Utility to repair the disk, then try installing macOS Big Sur again. Just in case, here's how: How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility

If that doesn't help, create a new user and try to upgrade from there: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Keep us posted!

Best regards.

Hi jfro33,

Thanks for contacting the Apple Support Communities to ask about your Mac having an issue upgrading to macOS Big Sur.

There may be a few requirements not being met in order to update, so let's look into this together.

First, you'll want to make sure you're connected to a good known working Wi-Fi network, or plugged directly in via Ethernet. If using Wi-Fi, try another network you might have available.

From there, how much available space are you seeing in the Apple (  ) > About This Mac > Storage?

What happens when upgrading to Big Sur while in safe mode? Safe mode can help if there is third-party software stopping the installation.

Try our steps here to enter safe mode:

Take care!

Thank you for the response. I connected my iMac to an ethernet, same speed really as the wifi around 120mbps but I gave it a try anyway. I then restarted in safe mode. Even with safe mode it still did not install. I have still I have received the same error. I have 557GB of storage space. I even deleted the os installation and then redownloaded it. I also removed some 3 party apps Any other advice?
