Cardio Fitness doesn't have Apple Watch as a data source

I update my iphone and apple watch yesterday. But the cardio fitness says no data. When I checked I noticed that it does not have any datasources. My Apple Watch was not added automatically. I cannot find a way to add it manually as well. What can be done?

I thought of unpairing and pairing again. But then it will not have my previous data right?

Ok, my i s working now. What I did...

I've started my training "Walk outside" outside with my iPhone (iPhone 11 pro with 14.3 iOS) with me. Walked only about 1 km (9 minutes) and after ending this trening, cardio fitness on Health App on my iPhone is visible.

I hope this will work for you as well.

Cheers

One thing nobody seems to be mentioning is that it seems to take some days for the reading to show up. I have had two watch pairings and the first time it took seven days before I got a cardio fitness reading. The second time it took three days. My advice then would be to wait at least seven days before concluding the feature isn't working. Before that point, you will not see your watch as a data source because it doesn't appear until the first reading writes the data.

Here is how I ‘fixed’ the issue on my watch.

The heart rate grey-ed out- turn off Power Reserve on the watch.

cardio Fitness not showing watch as resource— turn on location service

— on the phone in the watch app click on privacy, then on Reset Fitness calibration

  • now do Outside walk or run using walk/run App for about 15/20 min.

this fixed the issue for me

I talked to an excellent support person at Apple and here is the fix.

First, you have to do at least a 20 minute walk OR run. I know we all know that.

However, Apple made a change recently in the iOS. Now for it to record Vo2 Max you have to run for 20 minutes at 10 mph. I can’t do that. So, if you record your workout as a walk and actually run for at least 20 minutes it will record it.

I actually recorded it through MapMyRun and it worked fine.

Hope this helps and Merry Christmas.

I had same problem. I have Series 3 Watch and iPhone 11Pro Max, both updated to latest software. As someone else pointed out, you must initiate OUTDOOR walk or run WORKOUT via the watch “workout app” only. You must do 2 workouts- (I did 1 workout on a Monday and the other on a Thursday-in the same week) before it calibrated and updated the Cardio Fitness statistics in the HEART APP. Hope this makes sense and hope this helps!
