Can the ipad "lock" key be disabled on a bluetooth keyboard for ipad?

I have a bluetooth keyboard that I use with my iPad. I love it since it is soooo much easier to touch type with it instead of the onscreen keyboard. The problem is that even though I touch type, I do make mistakes. This means that I have to use the "delete" key, but I often hit the key just above it instead. The key just above the "delete" key is the iPad "lock" key. This key has a lock icon printed on it, and is NOT the caps lock key. Hitting this key instantly turns the iPad off, so I have to hit the home key, get my fingerprint recognized then go back to the app where I was previously typing.

Is there a way to disabled this "lock" key????

Hello LHnTX,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're glad you're here!

Based on your comments, we understand that you're using a Bluetooth, external keyboard with your iPad, and you'd like to know if you can change the function of the 'Lock' key. We'll be happy to assist you.

To get started, please let us know which keyboard model you own. If it was made by a company other than Apple, please share the name of the manufacturer, too.

Thanks!

This did not answer my question. I am already using a blue-tooth keyboard on my iPad. None of the keys are malfunctioning. What I need is to know how to disconnect one of the keys that I constantly accidentally hit because it is the "lock the iPad" key. I did contact the manufacturer and they just said the would put it on their list of possible future changes to hardware to move the key somewhere else.

Hi LHnTX,

We understand from your posts that the Greenlaw keyboard is working properly, but you'd like to disable one of the built-in keys to prevent locking your iPad accidentally. We're glad you've already heard back from the manufacturer after reaching out to them directly. Since there isn't a way to change the function of that key within iPadOS, we suggest partnering with them directly for a lasting solution.

Warmest regards.
