I accidentally deleted an entire text chain from my absolute FAVORITE person on the planet. How can I get them back? I have not backed up the phone (12 Pro Max) i just got it Friday and deleted by accident on Sunday.

go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check the switch position for Messages
If the switch is ON, then you cannot recover your deleted messages (no need to read any further)
If the switch is OFF, then you might be able to recover your messages IF you have an iPhone backup that contains the messages you are trying to recover. In which case you'd need to restore your iPhone to that backup. In doing so, you'd likely lose some data between now and whenever your backup occurred.

Since you commented that you have no backup, unfortunately I believe the answer is that you cannot recover them
I did those steps thinking that my new phone would just back up to my old (11) phone that everything transferred over to the 12 Max on Friday and just lose a couple days of texts. That didn't work either.

If you don’t have a backup that contains the deleted content there is no way to recover it.
