Buying a phone from someone else

Hello i wanted to ask if i buy a iphone from someone who bought it at apple and he have receip and apple waranty, so if i buy it and i get the receip he can't scamm me? i mean he won't report it as stolen and my phone will get blocked? how dows it work? thanks
