iPhone 12 mini - wireless charging not working (version 14.3)

Finally broke down and sent my 12 mini in for repair. They replaced iPhone Rear System Item 661-18818. It’s been perfect since then. It was a pain but worth it.

Same here, iPhone mini, several Qi chargers, lots of e-waste. If I could take out the ring of magnets I would. All of the chargers are indicating metal so stop charging after a couple of seconds to not overheat them. If I move the phone at 0.1mm increments to find the center of the magnets and the could it will charge for a bit... I think this will be a hardware\design incompatibility with field magnets in the way of the coils of existing QI chargers... clearly MagSafe will be expecting some metal and naturally center unless you have a proper book style case.... bit of an error really. They did not ship with a charger to stop e waste but I have generated more e waste trying to get around the problem... good luck to those with QI in a car, not much chance of getting millimetre accuracy on a bumpy road. Disappointed... Apple should offer vouchers for a MagSafe charger that works as compensation. Qi simply don’t /can’t work reliably fr those with Minis, they are too small and sit offset to the center of the coils in vertical chargers.. poor user acceptance trials on this..

The issue in my iPhone has been resolved, iPhone 12 pro max, 512 gigs.

It turns out that the magsafe charger I bought from eBay was the culprit.

Upon getting a genuine magsafe charger, I was able to charge my phone wirelessly.

End of story. February 20, 2021.

I recently bought an iPhone 12 mini and encountered the same problem with wireless charging using the GEEKERA 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Station. The charger is designed so that the phone stands upright. Almost by accident, I placed the phone against the charging station about 1 1/2" above the resting position and (while still holding the phone) let it slowly slide down to the resting position. It began charging. I repeated this several times and it worked. I noticed that it doesn't charge very quickly but it does charge. Hope this helps.

There is a problem with the phone. It’s not just MagSafe chargers. I sent mine in for repair and it’s been good ever since.

i just bought an iphone 12 Pro. Wireless charging is buggy for me too. Works in same phone case and charger as my 11. Bought a new wireless charger and nothing. Old phone works on it though. Did turn the phone off and on and turned the phone upside down, and it charges. Why it can’t do it without all the other stuff have no idea. Have OS 14.4 updated on it too.

I have 2 iPhone minis both purchased a month ago. 1 works fine with wireless charging. The other requires a reboot every day or so. Chat support also said Genius Bar or mail it in. Grrrr

Still not charging even with IOS 14.4. It worked when I took my Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe off but this is troublesome!

Contacted Apple and they did a remote hardware test and, of course, found nothing wrong with the hardware. Suggested I go into Genius Bar for help....why? So they can blow in the charging port, not be able to duplicate since it’s intermittent and either tell me it’s fine or swap the phone. I don’t want to swap for a refurb.....fix the software!

I have iPhone Pro Max with 512 gigs. All iPhones that are capable of proximity (wireless) charging should accept Qi protocol. This issue need to be addressed by Apple. I spent one hour with Apple tech support and they could NOT fix the issue.

My 12 mini has not reliably charged via wireless since I received it (when they first were available). After a few months, I received a replacement, with the hopes that it was a hardware issue specific to that phone, but the same issue persists. Thankfully, when I restart, it works for 1-14 days without working. It also will charge for a few minutes and then stop, which is especially frustrating when I am charging it overnight and don't notice. Frustrating that there is no fix.

I am having the same Issue with my 12 pro max. Updated iOS to 14.3 and still having the issue. Phone charges fine for 5 days or so and then stops. Reboot fixes the issue until it happens again.

Wife and I have brand new iPhone 12 mini. Neither charges with wireless charger that works for other iPhones

What’s more frustrating is I contacted Apple and they said I should go to an apple store for service. For what??? They’ll look at my phone, tell me it’s fine and either send me away or swap the phone out. Fix the software issue!!!

I have a similar problem. In the beginning after buying I had no issues. Only after an update the wireless worked for a few minutes and then stopped. Now with version 14.3 it doesn't even work for a few minutes anymore after a restart. So reboot does nothing for me now :-(.

Tested other phone on my charger, that worked. Tested my phone on someone else his charger (who has a different iPhone, which does charge), but my iPhone 12 mini does not charge.

Hope Apple will fix this issue
