Imac display has problems turning on

Hallo

I have an iMac 27' from 2011. for the past couple of months, it has sometimes been acting weird in the way of the display not turning on. The sound apple computers make when they turn on can be heard and the lights of my keyboard also turn on. But as I said the display keeps being black. I hope someone would be able to help, cheers!!

Turn it on and hold a flashlight up to the display.

If you can see the desktop or login screen, then the backlight inverter board or display back lighting is kaput.

You may also be able to test and prove this, by connecting an external monitor up to the Mini DisplayPort.

Sadly it is going to cost more to repair (if you can find the parts) than the iMac is worth.

No problem.

Sounds like a loose connection or other hardware issue.

These are very difficult issues to troubleshoot, even for an experienced service technician.

Keep in mind it is 10 years old and replacing a Display, a GPU, a Backlight Inverter Board or a LogicBoard is going to cost more than it is worth.

At this point, your only option is to find an experienced service technician to take a look at it and then if it can be repaired, decide on either a repair or a replacement.
