Bought new MacBook pro with chip and office 365 and downloaded 365 from best buy link- keeps telling me when I try to click on word that I have to update word and get it in the app store - please help

macbook pro downloaded 365 and trying to use word but it keeps telling me to get updated word and buy it again

Because the Microsoft 365 subscription clients (only) are in the Mac App Store. Microsoft also just noted that Microsoft 365 clients are now universal applications and will speed up on an M1 chip.
