"Blinking orange light" where? On the Mac mini? On the monitor?

Presumably, you are referring to the monitor. If so, have you set the correct "input"? In other words, if you have connected your mini via an HDMI cable, have you set the monitor input option as HDMI?

The orange light is on the front of the mini mac

it starts as white on startup then blinks orange and doesn’t connect with monitor
