MacBopk Pro (i believe it is maybe 2011) is running slow read the HD may be falling because of the age. How do I verify? How dod I replace the HD?

DiskUtility > First aid can verify internal HDD. And if you need to replace HDD, you can find lot of "How to" videos at YouTube like following.
