Hey quinnn,

We're glad you thought to reach out to Apple Support Communities about the issue you're having with your AirPods Pro switching between Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode while you're riding your motorcycle. We want to help! You're able to switch between the two features by pressing and holding the force sensor. Are you maybe touching them while riding to adjust them, or is your helmet possibly hitting them? More details about how to change the settings can be found here: AirPods Pro Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode

Keep us posted.

Take care.

quinnn,

Those are great details. Be sure that your paired iPhone is updated to software version 14.3. To find out, tap Settings > General > About. If an update is needed, back up your iPhone first:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update apps or use automatic downloads

After updating, if the issue continues, reset your AirPods to see if that helps: Reset your AirPods

You mentioned that you sometimes hear popping and crackling noises. There is a current service program for this issue that you might qualify for. More details can be found here: AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues

After those steps, if you're still experiencing this issue, we recommend speaking with Apple Support to look into available options. They can be reached here: Get Support

Thanks again for using Apple Support Communities.

Have a great day.

I am very tech oriented...understand these systems very well. Been using my AirPod Pros on my Harley since I purchased them. They worked correctly for a while...but noticed the odd behavior begin a few months ago. I wear a half helmet so nothing is touching the devices. They seem to go into silent mode when either wind or exhaust noise gets loud. When the noise dies down, like when I come to stop light, they go back into transparency mode all by themselves. Occasionally I hear crackling and popping when the noise level goes up from wind or exhaust noise, right before they go into silent mode. It’s actually rather convenient, as I don’t have to touch and hold while riding, but not sure they’re designed to be doing this. I thought it was a convenience for bikers...but I can’t stop them from doing it, and can’t find any answers online.
