Gmail Link doesn’t Open in Chrome

I have changed my settings to ask every time while clicking on a link in Gmail. It prompts me choose Chrome, Google and Safari as well. But when I select Chrome it still opens in Safari.

I am having the same issue where when I select a link in Gmail, and subsequently choosing to open in Chrome, it just opens in Safari instead. You suggest going to Settings > Chrome > Default Browser but there is no default browser under the chrome settings.

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities! We understand that links from the Gmail app open in Safari instead of Chrome as expected. You've come to the right place for help.


Let's start by going to Settings > Chrome > Default Browser App and make sure that Chrome and not Safari is selected there. After that, try opening a link using Chrome, then by using Safari and let us know if there's any change in the behavior.
