Slow USB 3.1 transfer speed

Hi, I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 15inch, trying to transfer files (iphone videos, photos) to 512gb 3.1 usb and it takes about 3 hours to transfer 30gb of files. Takes long to eject. On Windows laptop it was much faster. I erased it as exFAT.

What should I do? Should i get a different adapter with blue inserts? (Current adapter doesn’t have blue usb 3.x insert)

Mac to USB flash - slow transfer speed I am trying to copy a large file to an USB flash drive and for some reason the Mac is transfering the file to the flash drive with a speed of < 10Mb/s. I transfered files before between this Mac and that same flash drive and I never had this issue before. How can I speed up the transfer? Trying different ports hasn't helped. Someone suggested to prevent Spotlight from searching the USB flash drive which I did but the transfer is still slow. I am using an M1 MacBook Pro with macOS 11.5.2.

ExFat External Hard Drive problems on New Mac Book Pro I frequently need to move files between my Mac book and my PC. This has been the case for about 7 years now. In that time, I have had 3 Exfat formatted hard drives, two mac books, and 3 PC's. Every Exfat formatted hard drive can be read with in a few seconds if not instantly on ANY PC I plug them into. However, EVERY mac I plug those external hard drives into, it takes 45 mins (I timed it) for both my 2013 Macbook Air and my brand new Mackbook Pro (that is about a month old) to register that the external hard drive is plugged in. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
