There is no chance to find the Ethernet connection

Hello!

I had to reset the mac to its factory version ..

1. I re-installed Catalina

2. I have installed Big Sur

Before formatting the mac I had already done the update to Big Sur and was seeing ethernet.

After installing everything again I don't see ethernet. Do you have any suggestions?

The cable is perfect, everything worked before.

Cheers

It looks like the link on the Product page is stale, and does not supply the up-to-date Drivers

William Kucharski found the update through their 'software update for all products' page, which is at least two versions later.

There is something to be said for using Apple adapters -- at least they are more likely to keep their software up-to-date.

Almost all home (and many commercial) networks work that way; the router, wired or Wi-Fi, is the DNS server for the local network, and resolves addresses by forwarding DNS requests upstream.

In that way it also becomes a cacheing nameserver for the entire network so if you have multiple devices they all don't need to ping outside DNS servers to resolve addresses the router has seen before.

At first I thought it was a BigSur problem so I downgraded and switched back to Catalina.

As adapter I bought

https://www.ugreen.com/products/usb-3-0-to-gigabit-rj45-ethernet-adapter

I'm starting to think that maybe it's not an adapter problem, in which case I should still see the Ethernet icon.

I think it's a problem with the macbook.

Surely you are more experienced than I am. Maybe I am wrong.

Hello Grant Bennet-Alder

I have followed the various steps unfortunately without success. I am sending you the various steps. Plus I'm sending you my system report.

I'm afraid the problem goes beyond the driver issue.

the mac recognizes the AX88179 adapter.

I still don't see the possibility of connecting via ethernet :(

for now I "surf" with wifi.

but i think i will have to take the macbookpro to an apple service center.

Do you have any further suggestions?
