Accidentally erased hd macintosh os thing on the disk utility set up and now the macbook turns on and shows a blinking folder with a question mark

Should you have backup of MacBook system on Time Machine external

USB drive, that may suffice to restore the Mac to last backup state.

(You may also try to use macOS recovery and see if the Mac's partition

where this could be restored from, has not been erased as well.)

• If you can't back up or restore you Mac using Time Machine - Apple Support

(If no other solutions work, start over: Erase your backup disk, then

use Time Machine to select it as your backup disk again.)
