I have a portable DVD writer SE-218

Is a new usb-c the correct cable for this external DVD to fit my Mac Book Air?

DVD hook up to MacBookPro I just purchased a Apple USB super drive to watch a home DVD movie. I also have a apple SATECHI connector that helps me to plug other things into my laptop. The DVD uses a USB connection which the SATECHI has. But the message I ge is "connect apple USB to a USB port on this Mac. also the USB accessory needs power. I have tried all the ports for the SATECHI connector but nothing changes with the message.

The Samsung SE-218BB has a 2.0 USB-A port. As such, you would need a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter/cable, to make the connection between devices. Something like this one from Apple may work.
