Apple Fitness+ Airplay 2

Does Apple Fitness+ work with Airplay 2? My Samsung TV supports Airplay 2. I display movies and photos from my MacBook on it and now want to do the same with Fitness. But Fitness does not find the display though.

Thank you

its not a bug. You need an Apple TV HD or 4K. Here are the system requirements: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211924

That page is the official Apple specs

BTW - for those looking for where to get Fitness+ support, I called Apple Support and eventually ended up in a sub-department of Apple TV Support. So, I would aren’t there. Eventually, they tell me there will be a more specific support platform for Fitness+. Again - Apple has half-baked this launch - not really clear on how to make it work and not even clear on how to support it. It’s like the Zune for Apple...

Apple will lose a lot of customers who would have used Fitness+ because of this. I just started using it and have to watch it on my phone. Its ridiculously small trying to watch from across the room. Not being able to just AirPlay to my TV will be the main thing that makes me stop using the App...... they need to get this added ASAP!!! I don't see what the point of pushing the app out without airplay capability was. People who workout from home tend to want it on their TV.

What, the screen sharing doesn't work?! Well how are you supposed to use Fitness+ on a big screen? Surely this is a bug, as I'm sure Apple would want their products to integrate seemlessly? It would be good to have some 'constructive' official feedback to help out us customers.

Apple, is there a timeline for this Airplay issue to be 'fixed'????

I have spent a lot of money on an Apple Watch specifically to use Fitness+ via Airplay on my TV. This is disappointing to read...

There is no technical reason that if you have 1) an Apple Watch 2) an iPad or iPhone paired to it and 3) an Airplay 2 compatible TV to cast from iPad or iPhone, that you could not use Apple Fitness without Apple TV. Apple please fix this. I already own an Apple Watch, multiple iPads, and have bought iPhones for my last five phones. Plus I have an Apple TV upstairs which I love using but I want to exercise downstairs and frankly it shouldn't require an Apple TV. Please fix as soon as possible, it will only help the fledgling Fitness+ service with your user base.

>>why I think it is a terrible decision:

I agree

>>What am I to do when traveling?

run from your iPad or iPhone.

(most hotels don’t have AirPlay compatible TVs anyways)

I have Amazon fire sticks too - no AirPlay compatibility. So only some apps (like YouTube) can beam to a fire stick.

AirPlay to non-Apple streaming devices is a fairly recent thing.

>>This is not how workout services should work.

no.

This is how the most valuable company in the market with a large user base that is vendor-locked into Apple products thinks it should work.
