Sep 2, 2010 11:17 AM in response to DocTonyNYCby proxx,Apple jerks are blocking by ip
So if you're outside of US (they don't care if ur on vacate ) they block your account
No effin support
Screw this, about to give up all apple products -
Sep 3, 2010 4:55 PM in response to proxxby lizandvk,This sounds plausible, they dont care where you are, if you're not in the US you cant use the US itunes store, even if you are only on vacation...
But why hasn't anyone received a satisfactory response from Apple? Even if that's what they tell us, at least its a reply. -
Sep 4, 2010 10:01 AM in response to lizandvkby Jeremiuh,No, that doesn't sound plausible. I am a us citizen, in the middle of the us, always had my phone in the us! It has nothing to do with the us! Why try to blame it on being in America? -

Sep 6, 2010 3:25 PM in response to MatJ333by DeepSecret,Exact same problem..
More than 10day have passed...I have not heard any thing from Apple customer service except "Thank you for your patient" email.

Sep 8, 2010 7:55 AM in response to DeepSecretby paultopsar, same problem here. since loading up itunes version 10.0 ALL my credit cards are rejected. I'm located in hong kong but have to use my USA address and USA cards. not sure if Apple is now looking at IP addresses and rejecting the credit card themselves rather than the bank. I have called all the banks. No rejections have occured. so seems Apple has taken it upon themselves to reject credit cards without explaining why. hopefully there will be a viable competitor soon -
Sep 8, 2010 9:47 AM in response to MatJ333by Kceezy,I received a response from Apple Support several hours ago saying that they are forwarding my issue for further research into the matter. What makes me upset is hearing that some people have been dealing with this issue for more than a month now. I will not be so patient, however. I just bought an iPhone 4 less than a week ago and I better hear good news from Apple on how they plan to quickly resolve this or I will return the iPhone and get the Android phone I initially picked the iPhone over. I don't even know if Apple actually intends to resolve this matter at all. All I know is even the iPhone 4 is nothing more than a well dressed brick without access to iTunes purchases. Apple has 24 hours from the time they initially responded to my request to fix this or they will be losing a long time loyal customer. Why oh why did I have to go and update to iTunes 10?! -
Sep 8, 2010 4:36 PM in response to Kceezyby lizandvk,Im sorry to say Ive gotten the same email from itunes and my problem has not been resolved for over 3 weeks! Im beginning to think they dont care and are not going to fix it. In which case, you are right - there is no use for an iphone. I know someone else posted this but thought I would pass it along...if you set your credit card to "none" at least you can get updates from the apps you have already purchased if that is any consolation. -
Sep 9, 2010 10:11 AM in response to lizandvkby SunchaserUK,I started having the same problem yesterday, and here is what I posted to Apple Support:
Hi Apple Support,
I'm hoping you can help me. I have been been getting my credit card declined message when updating my billing method in itunes since yesterday, 8 Sept when trying to buy an app for my iphones and ipads. It was working fine until then, and there were no problems. I am a US Military member stationed overseas in the United Kingdom, with a US iTunes/Apple account with US based credit card(s)which has worked fine up until yesterday.
I did a net search, and my problem seems to be related/described in the following link:
http://www.aeromental.net/2010/08/31/itunes-store-bug-your-credit-card-was-decli ned-please-enter-valid-credit-card-information-2/
To check this, I tried logging into US itunes from my UK based macbook, and setting my billing information and got the credit card denied message. I then remotely logged into my mom's laptop in Tampa Florida (within minutes of the first attempt at home in the United Kingdom), and was able to successfully update my credit card information. I logged out of the US based system, and tried to make a purchase with my newly updated account from macbook at my home in the UK, and was presented with the "update billing information" dialogs again, and then subsequently failed that credit card update. I then repeated the process, and was able to again successfully update my account billing info from the US machine and made a purchase, but the process repeated itself when moving back to the UK machine. I have also checked with my bank, and they only see the "successful" purchase and no declines at all. This is with trying 2 separate credit cards and a debit card. This would appear that there is IP domain checking or geographic checking going on and thus iTunes (not my bank) is denying the credit card update and subsequent purchases. Can you please put me on an "exclude list" to fix this or have this fixed so I can resume being a loyal Apple customer (imac, macbook, 2xiphone4, ipad, 2xipodtouch3G, nano, shuffle, 2xATV, Powermac Dual G5tower, MobileMe.). When I set the account to "no credit card", I can "purchase" free content and updates with no problems. I have also tried this on multiple machines with itunes10 installed.
All these devices are somewhat limited if I can not purchase content through the itunes store.
This is extremely inconvenient, as I was trying to purchase the tom-tom USA application for a trip I leave for on Sunday in Wash DC. I would really like this to be remedied before then. This seems to be itunes issues, as my bank(s) (both of them) have not processed any transaction requests that were denied.
Your speedy reply/assistance is greatly appreciated. -
Sep 9, 2010 10:55 AM in response to SunchaserUKby Don Trammell,Hi guys. I used the link: http://www.aeromental.net/2010/08/31/itunes-store-bug-your-credit-card-was-decli ned-please-enter-valid-credit-card-information-2/, and then turned on my VPN (I am an American with the govt living in Finland) and BLAM !!!!!!!.... Made all the purchases I wanted. Apple has screwed the pooch on this one and they need to fix this and fix it fast. I recommend sending this thread to as many online media outlets, Facebook, etc... as possible to get Apple attention. -
Sep 9, 2010 11:21 AM in response to Don Trammellby SunchaserUK,Tried that as well. (AnchorFree VPN, came up in Calif with IP trace). My account / credit cards (now tried 3) must be "flagged" or blocked. Just have to sit tight and wait for Apple Support... Eh... -
Sep 9, 2010 11:24 AM in response to SunchaserUKby Don Trammell,Very strange mate. I am using StrongVPN from Reliablehosting. Not sure where it lands but it is in the US. Apple really pooped the bed on this. They need to fix this asap. A friend of mine is going to post it and says that he will also inform some of the web blogs, Mac World, iLounge, etc... to let them know that Apple has a problem with their billing systems and users are getting hosed in the mean time.
