migration assistant file location

After a successful transfer [indicated] I can not find the files on the new computer. Where are my files?

new Mac Mini 2020 from old Mac mini 2011

New has Big Sur 11.1

Old Catalina 10.15.7

Mac mini 2018 or later

If you migrated a user account, then the files are in that account on the new Mac.

It migrates the entire user account intact. It does not import the files from that user to your current user.

If you log into the account you migrated, all of the files should be there.

Thank you for the help and Happy Holidays to you. I found the files on one of the other user accounts and for a while couldn't open them. Changed some settings and names, permissions, and passwords and I got into a secondary account. Mucked up my emails as well. Dropbox is not in the main account now so I still have to unscrew that. Have to turn off sync which is what caused the problem. that's is one week of my life I will never get back. It's never as simple as the technical people who write the 'help' instruction would indicate. As a retired college professor, I would love to teach them to write to the audience, not themselves or their fellow tech wizards.
