iPhone wont connect to iTunes, please help!

Hi guys

every time I connect my iPhone to the computer, iTunes doesn't seem to see it. I was getting an error about corefoundation.dll couldn't be found or something and found that another forum user said if i were to uninstall mobilemecontrolpanel then that would fix it. I didn't get the error message on start up anymore but it still wont connect. I've uninstalled iTunes as per Apple website and still nothing.

I'm reluctant to restart my iPhone and lose everything on it

Any suggestions?

iPhone 3GS running OS 4.0
iTunes 9.2.1 on windows xp

By re-setting the iPhone (pressing the home and on/off keys together for 10 seconds) and then plugging the iPhone via USB onto your laptop could help. By re-setting your phone doesnt lose you anything except cookies, web history and your WiFi password.

I know you have said you have uninstalled iTunes and Mobile Me and that didnt work. There is another thread that may help you.

It appears Mobile Me is the culprit here.

i've tried everything on that link. I've reinstalled iTunes and mobileme and it still wont come up in iTunes. could it be that im not using the original cable?
