How To Access Special Character Keyboard
I feel a bit embarrassed asking this question. How do I bring up the special character keyboard in Catalina on my iMac? A Google search has not been successful. Thank you so much.

Most special characters are not made with a "keyboard", but with the Character Viewer:

To see those special characters you can make with your currently active keyboard, use the Keyboard Viewer

In System Preferences : Keyboard : Input Sources panel, select Show input menu in menu bar. That menu will have the keyboards for the Input Sources that you have entered, and will also offer the default keyboard viewer, where you can practice using combinations of option, shift, and control keys to display different characters on that keyboard.
Control Command Spacebar
I tried that previously. No keyboard appeared. No icon on the menu bar either. Maybe I am missing something obvious.
Ah...that was helpful. Thank you so much.
