You cannot remove individually unnamed faces separately. You can only turn off the display of the named faces completely, as described by Nicholas_B2 . The face detection itself cannot be disabled, and we are no longer allowed to reject automatically detected faces at all like in the earlier versions of Photos. This has been the case since Photos 2.0 on macOS 10.12 Sierra.
