backing up photos on external hard drive

I would like to factory reset my computer (macbook air) and placed my photo library in an external hard drive i would like to know if the photos will be affected after the factory reset when i connect my external hard drive again.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.14

No, photos will not get affected if you have moved your Photos Library to External HDD on a Mac.
