connected a new USB Superdrive to new IMAC desktop and CD disk does not insert all the way into player?? any ideas??

Good work, so the iMac see's the SuperDrive. Try another CD or DVD in the SuperDrive. If it does not accept any disc's, then it could have a mechanical defect and you need to return or exchange it.

No the SuperDrive should work plugged into one on the iMac's USB 3.0 ports.

As a test, try connecting the SuperDrive to a different iMac and see if it works there. If not, then you need to contact Apple Support or your local Apple Authorized Service Provider and exchange that one.
Do you have the SuperDrive setup, with the Apple Logo facing down?
Can you see the Apple SuperDrive on your iMac's USB Bus?
(go to Apple > About This Mac > System Report > USB)
My LG shows up on the USB 2.0 Bus as Portable Super Multi Drive.

Yes the drive is facing with apple logo down I went to Tube and connected as per instructions (as simple as it was) I cannot find a devic logo on my mac desktop as suggested.
