If I plug my AUX cord into my iPhone XR why won’t it play music to my car?

if i plug my aux cord into my iphone XR (i have an adapter) why won’t it play my music to my car? it’s been working since i got my phone and aux cord, but after i updated my phone to ios14.3 it just stopped working.

Then try getting a flashlight and toothpick and try cleaning any cruft out of the Lightning port, it that does not help exchange your adapter.
