Typing Chinese characters on iPad keyboard

it works in my iphone. when i write li for example and click on the chinese word suggestion it doesnt show up. it is followed by another word (to complete the phrase) and when i click that word, it shows up.

How can I type Chinese using the iPad keyboard and how to switch between English and Chinese?

I'm referring the Keyboard dock, not the built-in keyboard on iPad.

Only the alphabets appear, nothing else.

I'm using it right now。Go to Settings ﹥ Keyboards ＞ International ＞ Add new Keyboard ＞ Find Chinese - Simplified Pinyin and you got it！I'm trying to get used to typing in QWERTY than in AZERTY and clicking on the English not-so-wide ones。

i am using ios 5.1.1 on my ipad2. when i use it in other apps it works. it doesnt work only in docs to go (word). but it works for the powerpoint & excel part. am using simplified chinese pinyin. any suggestions? reinstall docs to go?

The original author explicitly stated that he was referring to a physical keyboard he/she had connected to his/her iPad, not the on-screen keyboard.
