iPad “was just seen” with no location update

Using the Find My app for iPhone, I’m able to request a notification for when my lost wifi-only iPad has been found.

It’s not currently connected to the Internet, so activation of lost mode is pending. But unlike previous versions, the latest Find My allows even offline devices to send out encrypted Bluetooth beacons to nearby Apple devices and relay location information to my iPhone. In fact, I continued to get an updated location for almost a day after I lost it thanks to the new technology.

But now, I frequently get messages saying that my “iPad was just seen,” presumably by another nearby Apple device. But it is no longer updating my device’s location.

Does anyone know why this might be occurring? And is there anything I can do from my end to try to get a location update?

Thanks,

iPad Pro 12.9-inch, 2nd Gen, Wi-Fi

It shouldn’t yet be a batter issue as it’s only been lost now for just over 48 hours, and with a full charge when I lost it. I’m curious to know, in this offline finding mode, what is being sent via the encrypted Bluetooth signals that generates a “seen” message but doesn’t include an updated location.
