app store iOS 14.3 lists apps in unusable order

I have a brand new iPad (8th gen) running 14.3 and the App Store update pane is nearly unusable. It used to show apps sorted by update date, with ones needed updating at the top. Now it shows a list of purchased apps in an almost random order. It’s not alphabetical. I have to scroll down an enormous list of apps that show status of “Open”, “Update”, or the download icon. If the AppleID icon shows, say, 10 updates available I have to scroll down an enormous list of apps that aren’t even downloaded to this iPad. It’s a PITA to locate the ones that have updates available. This is a big change for the worse from how the App Store used to work. Is this a bug, and is there a fix coming? Or am I missing some setting?

Hey Kentuckienne,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about updating apps in the App Store with iPadOS 14. With iPadOS 14, apps are automatically updated by default. You can turn off this setting, or choose to update them manually at any time.

While you can use the "Purchased" section to check for updates, there's a section just below that contains available app updates. To find this area, open the App Store, tap "Today", then tap your profile icon in the top right corner. Then scroll down just a bit, until you see "Available Updates". Apps that need updating should appear at the top of the list, with recently updated showing just below. More details about updating your apps can be found here: Update apps or use automatic downloads

Thanks, and take care!
