iphone xs max carry options

Just bought a used iPhone XS Max, and I’m struggling with how much bigger it is than my Xr. I usually put a strong case on my phones (Otterbox Defender, Spigen Tough Armor) and then use a leather belt case with swiveling clip. That worked well with all of my phones, including the Xr (although sitting in a car with it on was uncomfortable). The Defender case with belt clip is ridiculously huge. It would be fine for walking around, but I’m sure it would snap off if I sat down in the car (or anywhere else) with it on. I’m not a naked-phone-in-the-pants-pocket person. I’d be too afraid of it slipping out of my hands and hitting the ground. So has anyone found a reasonably safe way to carry this huge phone? A way that doesn’t interfere with sitting?
