Transfer cannot be completed from 256GB to 128GB

I upgraded from Xs 256gb to iPhone 12 128gb. Need to transfer data through Quick Star feature but I get this message on the new phone: “Transfer cannot be completed. This iPhone does not have enough storage to transfer the data from your other phone” BUT my iPhone Xs only has 63gb of 256gb used. There is plenty of space! What’s the fix?

Both phones are on iOS 14.3

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having trouble transferring your data from an iPhone XS 256GB to an iPhone 12 128GB. We're happy to help.

Since Quick Start is giving you that message, we'd recommend using one of the other methods to transfer your data from your iPhone XS to your iPhone 12.

Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Since you already have an iCloud backup:

Use iCloud to transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you have any issues with restoring to your iCloud backup:

If you can't back up to iCloud or restore from iCloud backup failed

Cheers!
