Using cadence sensor with Apple watch

when I go cycling I take my AirPods and my Apple Watch 5 (cellular) with me. I leave my phone at home. Is there any way I can get cadence data from a cadence sensor to my Apple Watch without having to take my phone along.

Multi Sport issues I love the Multi Sport option on the Apple Watch. But…I did an indoor triathlon and I could not sync with the bike or treadmill. The treadmill data some how was able to include my run distance but the bike portion did not include my distance. Can this be an improvement in the future? Or, at least allow the user to edit the exercise (like me being able to add the bike distance traveled) to provide as much data as possible. I would think the equipment could be synced with during the transition part of the multi-sport.
