podcasts temporarily unavailable

Most of the podcasts that I listen to regularly are saying “This episode is temporarily unavailable.” They download correctly and can be listened to on iTunes on my PC, and sync without apparent problem to my iPod Touch (7th Gen), but will not play, always producing the same error, whether I am connected to wi-fi or not. I am using iOS 14.3, which seems to be the latest version. There seems to be no pattern as to which podcasts this affects, and sometimes they will play, more often they will not.

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you are unable to get Podcasts to play on your iPod touch, do we have that right? Since noticing this issue, has your iPod been restarted?


Restart your iPod touch


Has the app been forced to close?


How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


You can also delete the app and redownload it from the App Store to see if this continues.

I restart it daily, so that's not it, and the 'force close' solution doesn't do anything if the app isn't open.


However, since the app came with the iPod, rather than being something I bought and downloaded I hadn't thought of deleting it and downloading a fresh copy from the app store. That does seem to fix it, at least in the short term. I guess it became corrupt somehow.
