How do I transfer music from Windows Media Player to the iPod Touch?

You’ll need to install iTunes on your computer (you can find it in the microsoft App Store) then use that to sync the music onto the device

I don’t have my computer in front of me but you should be able to import your existing music into iTunes (import the music folders that already exist on your computer). Then once the music is in iTunes you can sync it onto the ipod
I have since been told, both by Apple Genius and Geek Squad, that a direct transfer from WMP to iTunes is not possible, as the file formats are not compatible. That makes me the proud owner of a $200 paperweight...
I have installed iTunes on my PC. So far, it has only offered options for purchasing new music. So, how do I transfer my EXISTING music library from WMP to my iPod touch?
