AirPods Max not pairing with Apple TV 4K

I tried everything from restarting the Apple TV, taking the AirPods Max out of the purse repeatedly and putting it close to the Apple TV, but they never show up.

TVos is on the latest version, my Apple user is signed in. I tried pairing via settings > bluetooth and directly via control center (double tap TV).

On my iPhone 11 and my iPad pro, everything works fine, including automatic switching.

Next step could be resetting the Apple TV but I don‘t want to lose my settings.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Based on what you mentioned, you are having some trouble connecting your AirPods with your Apple TV. Apple TV models will need the latest version of tvOS. Make sure it is updated. Follow the instructions here: Update Apple TV software.

Also, follow Set up AirPods with your Mac and other Bluetooth devices. If you still have trouble, you may be able to get help where you are when you Contact Apple for support and service.
