My watch keeps saying to bring near phone but it’s already paired and the update needs to be installed

Being able to update your Apple Watch is very important, and Apple Support Communities is a great place for help. If your Apple Watch is a Series 1, Series 2, or running watchOS 5 or earlier you'll want to verify that the companion iPhone is running the latest iOS, restart both devices, and if needed attempt to update while connected to an alternate Wi-Fi network. If this is an issue you're facing on a new Apple Watch, or you're running a later version of watchOS you'll still want to confirm your companion iPhone is updated, and try to update watchOS again. If the issue persists you'll then want to look in to unpairing and pairing the Apple Watch back with your iPhone as outlined in the following article.
