airpods making phone lag

i just got airpods (not pros-the old version) and i kept trying to connect them to my iphone 7, but everytime it connects, my phone lags and the screen freezes. only when i disconnect them does my phone start working again.

Based on what you mentioned, your iPhone freezes or lags when you. try to use your AirPods with it. First you'll want to make sur eyoru iPhone is updated. Here's help: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Also, reset your AirPods and try to connect them again. You'll see the best steps to take here: If your AirPods won't connect.

If you still have trouble, you may be able to get help where you are when you Contact Apple for support and service.
