iPad not accepting my passwords

I want to install a new app on my daughters iPad, however when I enter the password I get verification failed. I click “forgot password” and I’m asked to enter the password used to unlock the iPad. I enter the correct code and it doesn’t accept it. Not sure why this is happening. Anyone have ideas?

Hey there amala176,

We'd like to help get your daughter's iPad working right with downloading apps, so let's get started with ruling out some basics:

  1. As she has iPadOS 14 installed, the latest version is 14.3. You can verify which version number is installed within Settings > General > About. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  2. You mentioned that it shows 'verification failed' when entering your Apple ID password for your daughter to download an app. It sounds like you have the 'Ask to Buy' feature enabled. For more details, check out: Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy We also wanted to provide the next steps if that's what you're using already: If Ask to Buy isn't working
  3. If it's already up to date, we recommend a restart of both of your devices. Here are the steps for restarting your daughter's iPad: Restart your iPad This link shows how to Restart your iPhone if that's the device you're using to approve the purchase.
