2020 13" MacBook Pro Camera Quality

Hi,

I just unboxed my new MacBook Pro for Christmas this year and when I went opened the FaceTime app I realized the camera quality is extremely grainy and low quality (much more so than my 2013 MacBook Pro). How do I fix this? I thought one of the "wow" features of this computer was an HD camera? Has anyone else had an issue with this?

Thank you

Hi ogarciaramos,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you are not getting clear picture when using the built in camera for FaceTime. We want to make sure your new Mac is working as expected, and we're happy to help.

First, check to see if there is anything on the camera that may prevent it from focusing. Wipe the camera lens with a soft, dry, cloth. If you have a case, or any type of cover, on the computer, please remove and test. You can see more about cleaning your Mac here: How to clean your Apple products

Next, make sure you've upgraded to the latest software version of macOS: How to update the software on your Mac

Try the camera in multiple apps - in addition to FaceTime, you can try iMovie or Photo Booth, for example. Do you get the same results? We look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks.
