Apple TV 4K won’t play music videos full screen.

When I streamed music videos from my PC to my old Apple TV they always appeared full screen. I upgraded to a 4K for Christmas and whilst the first video selected plays full screen all subsequent videos appear in a small box in the middle of the screen. I assumed there was a setting that would fix this but there doesn’t appear to be. Surely this isn’t intentional? Has anyone been able to fix this?

Thanks but under the box is the name of the video and the surrounding screen is in the default 4K grey so it’s not the TV. I can also get the video to play full screen by selecting menu but the minute it moves to the next video back it goes to the small box.

Wondering if this got resolved with the call from Apple support or if we’re having to wait for the next update. It seemed to start with the 14.3 update, so I expect that is going to be the case but it would be great if had came up with a solution from your call. It’s been like this for essentially 2 months now.

Well, tvOS 14.4 was released shortly after the last post on this discussion and the issue has still not been resolved.

So, I tried calling Apple Support myself. After selecting the option for Apple TV support I was put in contact with someone who knew nothing about Apple TV. I was then put on hold for quite a while before being put in contact with an Apple TV expert who hadn't heard of the issue and was quite difficult to understand thanks to his very thick foreign accent.

After asking me for a lot of irrelevant information (like the model numbers of my TV and Projector), and getting me to change display settings, he eventually said he would escalate the issue to "Engineering". I'm not convinced he fully understood the issue as I described it. His thinking seem to revolve around it being a display resolution issue, which it clearly isn't when you see it for yourself. I strongly encouraged him to read the Apple Community discussion threads where this issue has been reported and photographed, to better understand it, but I have no idea if he did.

I'm loosing faith that anyone at Apple actually understands or cares about this issue. It's all very disappointing.

I have the same issue, just upgraded my Apple 4k to 14.4 system

Never any problems and as I am a music lover playing my recorded videos on apple 4k

Now pretty annoyed to have to watch it in small screen

It should not have happened, after also buying the latest Sony television

My setup was working perfectly and I had paid a fair amount to get to that.

And just another recommended upgrade put an end to that

It will be fixed in a following Apple TV upgrade and we just have to wait and see when

Disappointing from the multi nationals to follow them and buy their products, then after a while they just make them obsolete and we are guided into buying a new product

It's good for the economy and for their purses

Not much this little guy can do about it

Why does Apple upgrade their programs without testing. This is the second time I have upgraded their programs and have had problems. I'm not a Tech savvy person. When something works leave me alone or at least give me the option of going back to my old program. When I upgraded to CATALINA, I couldn't find my old Excel sheets. I had to pay a Tech to come in a find them for me.

Now you guys have ruined my Music Video Collection. I always praised Apple. NO MORE! You want my advise, FIX THIS NOW! Maybe when revenue drops, you'll pay attention.

Unfortunately, it seems like not many people use this feature, so Apple simply don't care that this bug upsets such a small number of customers. I mean, this was broken back in December 2020 and there's still no fix in sight.

My last 4 streaming media players were Apple TVs, but this issue has convinced me to shop around for my next one, rather than just automatically buying Apple again. At this stage the Nvidia Shield TV Pro looks pretty good.

Back in the day, it was my sole reason for getting an Apple TV and my home music system is set up around it, to simply ignore a section of their customers appears to indicate that they simply do not care about us any longer which very much did not used to be the case. Sad.
