There are some touch issues with a large minority 2017 iPad Pro models and some 2015/2016, as well, that is well known and documented here.

Some 2018 iPad Pro users reported this issue, as well.

There is no way to know if, when you upgrade to iPadOS 14.3, that your iPad Pro will encounter any touch issues, or not.

This issue is too random and sporadic and has NOT been pinned down by anyone or by Apple as to its cause.

So, do what you will.

There is nothing we users here can do for this OR any advice to give you that will help to positively protect your iPad from getting this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue.

No one is sure if it is a software or hardware issue, or a combination of both.

Apple has NOT been able to solve this vexing issue in well over two years!

iPadOS 14 IS a much better and more stable than iPadOS 13, so I still encourage you to uograde your iPad.

If you can I would upgrade your iPad over a Windows PC or older Mac, connected to the Internet, runnung the latest version of iTunes and using the iTunes Software Update feature.

OR

If a newer Mac with a much newer macOS using the macOS Finder to upgrade your iPad Pro to iPadOS 14.3.

Best of Luck to You!
