Time Machine

How can you tell when time machine is making a backup? There is no longer a backward rotation.

Your profile indicates that you are asking about Time Machine on your Mac running macOS1 10.14.x. Mojave. Are you asking about this operating system or the most recent macOS 11.x Big Sur system?


If you are asking about Time Machine in Big Sur.......


When Time Machine is idle, the small "clock" icon at the top of the Mac's screen will look like this:



When Time Machine is backing up the Mac, the icon will look like this:



There is no movement or animation on the icon.
