do I need a cellular plan for my apple watch to use it with my phone? It was connected to my phone and now it says I need a cellular plan to use with my phone and will not pair with my phone.

my watch was connected to my phone as a GPS version and somehow in the last couple of days it disconnected and now when I press the icon to reconnect it says I do not have a cellular plan? Apple Support says to unpair and then re-pair but gives no instructions on how to do that. My phone does not recognize my watch in the bluetooth settings.

You can use a cellular watch as a GPS only version and add the cellular plan at a later date.
When you unpaired the watch did you remove the cellular plan?.
